Home thereby Maki ng 100% Voting in Tamil Nadu. We have fixed with three basics objectives in this
Initiative namely
- 100% Voting
- Corruption free Voting
- Think and Vote.
These are all pernnial problem facing any democracy in General and India in particular. The issues of
non-participation, corruption in representation and loyality in cadreship makes Indian society suffers
from all forms problems. The single election is not surely Silver bullet to bust all these issues. But We,
The team OLI strongly blieved that ensuring the Citizens to take part in precess of active electioneering
will be viable first step in right direction. To achieve this we had taken following steps,
SEAL Campaign
We had taken up an initiative to create awareness among people to cast their vote thereby targeting
100% polling in the upcoming Tamil Nadu State Assembly Elections.
We came up with a ‘SEAL’ which comes in a unique color and shape and also a message, driving
home the idea to vote without fail.
The idea was to use that seal instead/along with existing ‘PAID’ seal on the invoice till we run into
the elections (i.e. 15th May 2016) in the commercial establishment.
As, it was distributed in Anna Nagar area of Chennai at Supermarkets, Apparel Shops, Footwear
Showrooms, Hotels/ Restaurants, Medical Shops, Cake shops. These SEALS were also distributed in
many major and minor outlets in Trichy, Madurai and Coimbatore other than Chennai.
To our surprise the ‘SEAL Campaign’ had been appreciated by media which was covered by article in
The New Indian Express, April 18 dated issue in all over Tamil Nadu and Tamil Hindu Newspaper dated
on 20.04.16. We had graced us with the moral boost from the success of our first campaign. Then, we
were more eager to try new avenues and came up with a plan to organize a rally with the support of all
the Civil Service aspirants studying in various IAS and IPS coaching centres in Anna Nagar.
Election Awareness Rally
Team OLI approached the Returning officer for Anna Nagar and Villivakkam Constituency with this
idea of Awareness Rally. We were able to get a strong support from the Returning Officer for the rally.
The IAS and IPS coaching institutes have rendered their full support by mobilizing their students for the
rally and even went to the extent of rescheduling their classes to ensure coaching classes do not fall on
the rally timing.
The rally was conducted on May 3, 2016 from 07:30 AM to 09:30 AM. We started from ‘C.S.I Jessie
Moses School, 5th avenue, Anna Nagar and pass through ‘Visweswaraiyya Tower Park, Rountana, K4
Police Station, 6th Avenue and end at C.S.I Jessie Moses School. We have estimated around 300
participants.
The future civil servants of India, all sporting catchy pink attire, marched through the streets
carrying a greater social responsibility. The interesting and inspiring slogans recited unanimously by the
300 plus youths banged every ear that passed by, making heads turn minds listen thereby planting
awareness.
Poster Campaign
To reach social media based citizens the Team OLI also designed various innovative posters to
spread awareness in whatsapp, facebook and Twitter.
